Our Check In time is 3PM. We cannot guarantee an earlier time but endeavour to accommodate you; should we not be able to accommodate an earlier Check In we will happily store your luggage until your room is ready.

Our Check Out time is 11AM. If you wish to extend past that time we can extend until 1PM for a fee of £20 per hour past 11AM.

At Check In you will need some form of Photo ID to ensure the security of the building. You will also need a Credit or Debit Card so that we can take a small £10 deposit to hold against any room charges or damages.

The hotel itself does not have parking itself; however, guests of the hotel are able to park at NCP Castle Terrace for a 50% reduction of their fees. The discount code for parking is sent to guests 48 Hours prior to arrival.

The hotel is located across 3 Floors with reception on the ground floor and the hotel rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The second floor has full lift access, and the third floor has partial lift access. Please contact the hotel with any specific mobility needs or questions.

Due to the apartments being in listed buildings there is not a lift in any of the apartments. There apartments are located from garden level to the 2nd Floor.

As a small hotel we do not have a dedicated luggage porter and guests are responsible for their own luggage. Where it is possible we will help.

We are happy to store your luggage on your day of arrival and day of departure if your room is not ready upon arrival or if you have a later departure. Unfortunately, due to space limitations and security of the building we are unable to store luggage long term. Please speak directly with the team if you have any specific concerns.

We have one fully accessible Standard Double room in the hotel.

The hotel and the apartments are in separate buildings along the same row of terraced buildings.

The Castle Suites are the only rooms in the hotel with a full view of Edinburgh Castle. If you would like a view of the Castle and have booked another room type, please contact the hotel and we are happy to discuss upgrade options for you.

We do offer room service to the Hotel rooms but not to the apartments due to their location. Room service is available from 12PM – 10PM.

There is a fully equipped gym in the hotel that is available for all guests (hotel & apartments) to use. The gym is available for use from 7AM – 8PM. Please come to reception to get access.

Yes! We offer complimentary cots for any child under the age of 3. We do offer sofa beds in some of our apartments and fold out beds (suitable for under 16’s only) in some of our rooms. There is a £25 charge per night for the extra sofa & fold out beds. Please be advised that not all rooms are able to accommodate an extra bed and you will need to speak to the Reception Team to arrange this for your stay.

The hotel itself does not have a laundry facility however we do have a same day dry cleaning service that runs Monday-Friday.

Yes! We are happy for you and your pet to come and stay within one of our 6 Pet Friendly Apartments as our hotel rooms are not suitable for pets. We allow up to 2 pets per apartment and the cost is £50 per pet.

The Rutland will never ask you to send credit card details via phone or email.
